Men’s group and community support

Photo Gallery of Loiyangalani

The Jade Sea Men’s Group is a place for men to get to learn about forestry, income generation and tourism.  The region is an important environmental area and is home for many indigenous species.  There is a strong sense of cultural integrity and it is very tribal from an anthropologic point of view.

Who are they: Group of varied men,  aged  fropm young men (teens) to elderly.

What do they do: Their main income generation is providing accomplished guides to visitors to the area including fishing guides for Nile perch and  boat rides  on Lake Turkana and tours of nearby archaeology sites. They are well informed of the history and anthropology and ecology of the area.

Lately, they have also begun to incorporate AIDs

education, tree planting and  make waste management information available to the Loiyangalani community at large. Their members collect and manage large curio sales of fossils, crystals, baskets and traditional local tribal artefacts of Rendille, Turkana and Samburu

How does WildiZe help them: WildIZe has been helping the group  through:
1. Providing educational materials on conservation, sanitation and aids awareness
2. Assistance in organizing presentations on eco-tourism
3. Assistance in putting together income generating ideas
4. Provide seedlings for tree planting
