bio

Eli Weiss is an Artist and Wildlife/ Nature Photographer. She came to Aspen,Colorado for the first time in 1963. Blossoming in the ensuing years between Colorado, Wyoming, Illinois and other travels, she kept returning to the Roaring Fork Valley. In 1979 she settled in Woody Creek, Colorado.

Ms. Weiss has always felt a deep passion and great respect for the beauty of our Earth; Its nature, wildlife and wilds. Its myriad forms of color, life, and peoples has been a constant factor in her art. In 1993 she began to seriously study photography and apply its techniques to reflect her sense of vision of our Earth. Some of her finest pleasures are these sojourns behind the lens of her camera. Her next challenge was to somehow combine her love of Photography, Art, Nature, Environmental Ethics and Conservation! As a result, she found herself on month long journeys studying conservation issues and photographing in fascinating places: Australia, Botswana, the Galapagos Archipelago, Kenya, Namibia, Tanzania, Tasmania, Zimbabwe, and her home area, the Rocky Mountains. Then, of course, sharing the visuals and knowledge with everyone who cares to look and listen.

The photographs Ms. Weiss creates are up close, personal reflections of the stunning, sometimes harsh and eerie, beauty of nature. Savannahs teeming with wildlife, subtle lightscapes, serene landscapes, the animals and peoples that inhabit them, and getting deep into the world of minute detail and vibrant color in the depths of flowers. All of these aspects of life are integral components in the continued diversity of our global environment.

Ms. Weiss' organization, WildiZe Foundation™, is dedicated to wildlife and habitat conservation. Her philosophy is grounded in the belief that humanity must be in balance as one with, not separate from, nature and the all encompassing Laws of Life. Addressing human needs and linking them with the needs of wildlife and the wilds is critical to the long term conservation of our Earth's diversity and resources.

Alongside her photographic efforts, Ms. Weiss has moved into the fascinating and wonderfully exciting realm of Digital Imaging. When applying these techniques to photographs, intriguing and beautiful Art is created. She offers her digital talents to others to create images and designs for a wide variety of enterprises.

A portion of the profits Ms. Weiss receives from the sales of her photographs and fine art are donated to globally recognized non-profit conservation organizations. These funds are placed directly into projects and efforts that help ensure our endangered Earth, wildlife, habitat and cultures can survive in harmony for generations to come. We have only one Earth, and as yet no other viable option! If WE don't care, who will?
