• Over 23 years experience in the care and management of black rhino, hippo and Asian elephants. Proficient in all aspects of behavior management, medical care, handling and restraint, and training of these species. Skilled in free contact elephant management, as well as protected contact programs.
• Professional and passionate keeper who actively promotes communication and collaboration among team members, zoo employees, and outside professional contractors.
• Strong project management and communication skills forged through leadership of various workshops, fundraisers, and internal zoo committees. Experience includes budget development, promotion planning, fundraising, event staffing, agenda development, venue selection and accommodations.

Professional Experience
Pachyderm Keeper, Denver Zoo, Denver, Colorado ▪ February 1990 - Present
• Responsible for the care, exhibit, training, diet and nutrition, record keeping, medical care, and safe transfer of black rhino, hippo and Asian elephant collection. Additional experience with a broad variety of species including hoofstock, carnivores, sea lions and bears.
• Assist with daily care and management of Asian elephants in free contact program including veterinary care, foot work, and behavioral management.
• Developed section safety procedures and protocol for handling and management of black rhino, hippo and Asian elephant collection. Implemented innovative behavioral training program that reduced immobilizations and allowed routine phlebotomy, foot care, weighing and behavioral husbandry of rhino collection. Cross-trained pachyderm keepers in behavioral and blood sample collection techniques.
• Skilled in data collection and record-keeping for developing comprehensive animal care history. Charted nutritional intake of black rhinos to track weight and fecal output trends. Participated in national nutritional project for development of new rhino grain feed.
• Assisted executive team in design development and fundraising for Asian Tropics exhibit.
• Train and direct volunteers, interns, Zoo Explorers and co-workers. Routinely perform lead keeper duties in absence of supervisor. Selected as keeper representative to Denver Zoo Strategic Planning Animal Collection Committee.
• Developed strong communication skills through daily public demonstrations, behind the scenes tours, and visitor experiences. Media interview skills developed through feature articles and several TV programs including "Last Charge of the Rhino", I-Witness video, and Animal Planet.

Large Mammal Keeper -San Antonio Zoo, San Antonio, TX ▪ August 1988 - February, 1990
• Responsible for all aspects of care and management of 20 species of hoofed stock including black and white rhinos, carnivores and marsupials.
• Selected for a cheetah reproductive cytology program at Texas A & M University. One of three keepers selected to work with koalas and tree kangaroos in zoo's new Australian exhibit.
Animal Keeper - Woods Haven Farm, Gainesville, FL ▪ January 1988 - June 1988
• Provided care and management of exotic hoofed stock and psittacine and equine collections. Duties included the preparation of diets, restraint and transportation of animals.
Animal Technician - College of Veterinary Medicine, UF, Gainesville, FL ▪ April 1987- January 1988
• Responsible for the care and management of equine and bovine collections including sheep and poultry. Assisted in the medication of animals under supervision and routine record keeping. Regular maintenance of fields, paddocks and enclosures. Operated various machinery including Bush hog, and tractors.
