wildwords from Eli-gazelli

It's been an incredible year for me and WildiZe™. I would like to thank all of our supporters and volunteers for their generosity and time.. WildiZe™ can't save the world without YOU!

The last time i wrote to you I was bringing my new assistant to Kenya and Tanzania for the first time. You can read a few of her first impressions below...she lived to tell about it!

At this writing I will be going to Rwanda to rub elbows with the Mountain Gorillas and visit an area that has recently been threatened by a volcanic eruption. None of the Gorillas were harmed, at least of the habituated family groups. I'm sure many suffered in the eruption nearby.

I am going to Kenya to investigate many new opportunities that await us there. The groups up North are expecting me and it will be exciting as always to see how there projects are coming.

They are all so very concerned for all of us here in the United States, since Sinda and I were in Kenya when the WTC tragedy occured. We received many condolences and assurances that the people of Kenya and Tanzania understand what sorrow an act like this brings upon a country, having been recent victims of the terror. They also express their wishes that we not forget the people and animals in Africa in times of world upheaval.

WildiZe™ has alot of great plans, ideas, and exciting prospects up the road! That's what I love about this work...or better said - passion!-- it's never dull, and there is always something on the horizon, and it is a constant and beloved challenge. Gotta love this Earth, What an incredible place it is.

Thank you, See you in March!

Eli

new faces- Sandy Price - our Kenya Connection
While buying artifacts for the next African Market Fundraiser, we met a wonderful woman who turned out to be our new addition to the WildiZe family. Sandy Price is an internationally known conservationist, having gone to Africa in the 1960's and stayed to develop her passion for the wilds of the world. She was involved in many projects but is best known as the Head of CITES, creator of WildLife Clubs of Kenya, heading up the African Wildlife Foundation for many years.

Sandy will head our Nairobi office beginning January 2002 and will direct the programs and development of funds from Africa, while Eli travels between the US and AFrica and Sinda holds down the Aspen office.

Having Sandy's experience in working with tribal traditional groups and wildlife conservation on the ground will direct Wildize in directions that will add to the integrity of its programs and enhance the ongoing work that the Kenyan Government has already developed over many years.

new links in the WildiZe™ chain

Stateside donors directly support our projects and benefit financially by sending funds through WildiZe Foundation™, as we work closely with our Project Partners by preserving the project integrity and clear focus through the Grant process.

on the horizon
There are other exciting possibilities in the air around WildiZe Foundation and our travels to Africa this summer. We will be on field site visits from August to mid-September, traveling to Kenya and Tanzania. All of our new connections in Africa will be exciting to explore. We tremendously look forward to the knowledge we will gain, and therefore be able to pass on to YOU!. Visiting the site projects will be rewarding as we see your donor dollars hard at work making a difference in people's lives in these rural communities. Be sure to visit our 'lynx' page http://www.wildize.org/links.htm for easy access to websites of our current projects and see where your donor dollars are directed. If you find an area that turns your head, give us a roar or two and we'll be glad to help you. Email us at: info@wildlize.org

teaching our young
Just like in the wildworld of nature, we need to teach our young the skills and lessons they will need to survive, and to do that, they need a planet to have a future in! No amount of donor funding is too small to save our planet, so if you have children, take them to enjoy 'kits and cubs' page http:// www.wildize.org/kids.htm! It's our kidzone where your youngsters and young adults can learn about wildlife and having fun with conservation!! Yes, FUN doing something for our Earth! While you are there, take a minute, as a parent, to think how it would be if you could ONLY show them these wild animals on the internet or in a book or on TV…which could happen during our lifetime unless we actively begin to regenerate the planet by caring for all its inhabitants and taking responsiblitly for our actions.

Even young kits and cubs can learn to invest part of their allowance and precious time toward conservation. What if they learned that they could adopt-a-cheetah in Africa? What if they decided to sell lemonade and send the money to help an African child go to school for a year? How about a "mowing lawns for lions" project? We need to show our kids that a small action is better than a lot of words, and that a few dollars can make a HUGE difference in someone's life - here, or in Africa. Kids CAN contribute in a way they find meaningful and fun! Kids are the future... they can participate in creating a planet and an envrionment they would love to live in. If WE don't care, who will?
